Cough, fever and
progressive dyspnea for 7-8 days not responding to antibiotics. No exposure to
Covid-19 patients. His wife had fever and cough a week before. Medical history:
colon cancer.

RT-PCR positive for SARS-CoV-2.

Patient with cough and fever for one week not responding to antibiotics admitted to the ED for respiratory distress. No exposure to Covid-19 patients; hotel worker.

HRCT

Radiologist reported findings consistent with interstitial pneumonia. RT-PCR confirmed SARS-CoV-2 infection.

46-year-old asymptomatic female patient underwent chest radiography followed by CT since her husband was diagnosed of Covid-19 pneumonia (case n 14). pO2: 98%.

Interstitial markings in the lower lobes with multiple ill-defined blurred consolidations. No pleural effusion.

CT

Multiple and bilateral consolidations at different stages, with predominant peribronchial and subpleural distribution. No pleural effusion. The patient was quarantined after performing the nasal swab.

50-year-old male outpatient presented for a chest radiography. He reported with sick cough asthenia and fever for two days, with progressive worsening of his clinical conditions.  pO2: 93%.

After the chest film, the patient underwent CT for a better characterization of his pulmonary abnormalities which were suspicious for Covid-19 interstitial pneumonia.

The patient was then admitted to the ED to activate the procedures for nasopharyngeal swab and hospitalization.

61-year-old female
patient with fever (37.8°C) cough and asthenia. pO2: 98%. Previous flu symptoms
in November 2019, treated with antibiotics.

After the chest film, the patient underwent CT for a better characterization of his pulmonary abnormalities which were suspicious for Covid-19 interstitial pneumonia.

Unremarkable.

Unremarkable.

The patient was then put in isolation without obtaining a nasopharyngeal swab.

58-year-old male
patient presented to the ED for syncope after physical effort. Upper
respiratory inflammation with cough for few days. No previous medical history.
No recent travel.

T: 37.5°C; CBC normal.

The patient was then hospitalized and a RT-PCR test for SARS-CoV-2 was performed, turning positive. After clinical worsening the patient was transferred to the ICU

COVID-19: case 11

UOC Radiologia – AO Sant’Orsola – Bologna

A55-year-old patient with persistent fever, recently underwent prostatectomy, performing uro-CT scan in the suspicious of abdominal collection.

In the lower portion of the lungs included in the examination, inflammatory abnormalities are seen and a chest scan was then acquired.

The pulmonary findings were consistent with interstitial pneumonia.

A nasal swab for SARS-CoV-2 was performed, turning positive.

The patient reported to have been in “high-risk” zone and that he had fever since few days but he did not declare it because he was afraid the surgeon wouldn’t operated him.

73-year-old female
patient with fever and respiratory distress.

The patient was intubated in the shock room immediately after a chest film for worsening of her respiratory failure.

Chest film:

RX torace a letto

multiple and diffuse consolidations with interstitial markings

CT

Diffuse ground-glass opacity with confluent consolidations in the dependent areas and peripheral band atelectasis.
